The week commenced with the ICAN Campaigners Forum at Riverside Church, bringing together activists and experts to strategize on promoting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
On March 1, a commemorative event marked Nuclear Victims Remembrance Day, honoring those affected by nuclear testing and emphasizing the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons. The Third Meeting of States Parties (3MSP) to the TPNW convened with 86 countries and over 1,000 civil society representatives. It culminated in the adoption of a Political Declaration and decisions to further the treaty's objectives. Throughout the week, daily campaigner meetings, side events, exhibitions, and initiatives like the Artists Against the Bomb project engaged the public and stakeholders, fostering dialogue and commitment towards a world free of nuclear weapons. |
